Concessions

Charlie’s Cast & Crew – Murphy Theatre Concessions, 2021

Thanks to a grant from the State of Ohio for Historic Preservation, the Murphy Theatre announces the completion of a new concession and bar area to better serve our patrons and guests. Charlie’s Cast & Crew will feature the traditional candy and popcorn counter with a larger bar area which will enhance our service to our patrons during programs and intermissions. The room will also be available for smaller group rentals with a limited seating capacity. Plans are also under consideration for occasional informal entertainment to be in the window staging area for our guests’ pleasure.

The Murphy Theatre has been the gathering place to present all kinds of entertainment for our community over the past one-hundred-plus years.  During this time there have been few changes to its original historic character other than updating equipment and adding modern conveniences.

This amusement palace was gifted to Wilmington from Charles Webb Murphy in 1918 and remains true to its architectural character and artistry today. The theatre was silenced this past year due to the Covid virus but looks forward to hearing applause, laughter, and music once again. We invite you to come and learn about our history, explore our renovated spaces, and be entertained!

Social Distanced Seating

The State of Ohio no longer requires social distancing with seating.  At this time, shows are not being sold with any social distancing in place.

Safety and Sanitizing Efforts

The Murphy Theatre implemented increased sanitation and cleaning practices throughout the pandemic, and we continue to follow enhanced safety and cleaning protocols and provide hand sanitizer throughout the facility.

A UV Germicidal Irradiation System was added to the HVAC Air Handling System that will help recirculate healthy air in the Auditorium of the Murphy. The system is designed to disinfect the air by killing bacteria, germs, spores, mold, and viruses, including the Corona Virus.
